Hello! Can anybody give me a unit history on these locomotives? I think they're in the 4520-4524 series GP38-2's. I understand they were originally GP40X units. How did CP acquire them, when, and who rebuilt them? Thanks! -JD
CP acquired seven GP38-2 rebuilds from NRE (National Railway Equipment) in 2005, 4520-4526. 2 were wreck replacements, the other 5 were credit towards a NRE purchase of SD40/40-2s 4520 is former NS GP50 7075 4521 is former SP GP40X 7231 4522 is former UP GP40X 9003 4523 is former UP GP40X 9000 4524 is former UP GP40X 9001 4525 is former NS GP38 2773 4526 is former NS GP38 2779 The GP40Xs and the GP50 were retrucked with Blomberg B trucks during rebuild, replacing the Blomberg M on the 50 and the HT-Bs on the 40Xs.
