CP has a speed restriction policy for cold weather operations. When ambiant temperature is less than -25C, trains are to reduce speed to 55 k/hr (35mph) in certain high rail break risk areas. Speed restriction applies to all tracks when the temperature falls below -35C. CP trackside detectors report the ambiant temperature by voice to the train crew. -35c? What's that, -45F? Either way, I have seen it that cold, and I don't want to again. That's just stupid-cold.... All tracks? I'd guess that also means all trains.
