Would the medium or short shank coplers be best for a layout that has some 9.75" curves in it. I have some freight cars that Rapido couplers and want to switch over to a coupler like accumate or micro trains.

    Alan:

I use short shanked MT couplers for most of the rolling stock during the steam-transition period on the JJJ&E.

The short shank provides more realistic closer coupling.

If you have Loco's to convert to MT couplers, the MT 1016-1's work better on narrow radii then the MT 1015-1 as they have a wider swing to allow for the sharp radii.

Stay cool and run steam..... [IMG]

    Bob:

Today, by coincidence, I had more or less the same question (re short or medium shanks), and found your reply by doing a search. Thanks for the advice!
