OK guys, four days before 3751 leaves LA for Williams, AZ. Reports on other sites say that 4449's Aux tender "Let's Roll" has been delivered to the Redondo (once) roundhouse.
One problem chasing in mid-day is the sun angle. Another is that temp in Needles has been WAY over 100 the last few days, 115 yesterday. Attached photo taken by my late friend Dave Kirkpatrick, who left us about a month ago. Photo in the Mojave desert in 1999, enroute to Railfair. :( [IMG] [IMG]

Great timing. I published that one minute before the daily wipeout/start over. :(
This is a PS. Anyone live in Kingman, AZ? The service stop on Tuesday has been changed from Peach Springs to Kingman. Please contact me. :D

Gordon, I will miss the move from LA to Williams, BUT, I have spies working for me in Kingman (My daughter and her friends) who will hopefully cover the service stop there on Tuesday.
I leave Oregon Tuesday, pick up my grandson in Canyon Country, CA and we get to Kingman Thursday, Williams Friday. We will ride to and from the canyon on Saturday. BTW, Mike Morgan is giving away 1/2 (return leg?) of his bought ticket for that day, over on TO. He is "OKtrainboys".
We will chase the return to LA until my little buddy gets tired of it (hopefully all the way back).
We're staying at the Holiday in at Williams, Fri and Sat. Hope to see you. :D

Thanks Gordon. I hope you have good luck with the pictures, too. Make sure you take lots of water across that desert. I have driven it many times and if you break down it's a cruel place. [IMG]

Hi guys and gals. I'm at my daughters, so not capable of full access. This was the greatest steam railfan trip I have been on in a long time. The SBRHS, Grand Canyon Railway, NRHS, Amtrak, BNSF, and anyone else who had anything to do with it can take pride in what they accomplished. More to follow when I get home in a couple of days. :D :D :D

i agree fitz , this was a great trip , just put 25 rolls in to be developed and have watch the 2 hours of video a couple of times , the 3751 put on a good show coming up crozier canyon at about 20 mph and barking very loud , it was echoing off the canyon walls , i hope some of my time exposures turn out good , hope to hear more about your trip when you return!
