That's caused by momentum settings(CV3=acceleration rate, CV4=deceleration rate). Virtually all current decoders support these settings. Most decoders have a default of 0 for CV3 and CV4, meaning no momentum, but the Lenz Silver Mini has a default of 6 for CV3 and 5 for CV4.

YUP...been playing with CV3 and CV4 on my TCS CN-GP's. Its interesting to try and remember to shut down the throttle early...LOL. Running the 'trains' as opposed to running the 'track' is a learning curve in and of itself...but I like it :tb-cool:

    Excellent information given here!

BIG BIG BIG Advantage. The DZ is a great decoder, but if nothing else what I love about steam is that gradient ease-in when starting from a stop, something the DZ just cant do with out lunging/stepping (granted, small amounts, but very noticeable). I've had them installed in my two Mikados since day 3, and tried everything in the form of programming/speed tables with little success. Recently, I swapped out one for the TCS M1 and with the factory settings you can not detect any lunging.

That model is the single most aggravating model I've ever owned. After traveling back to Bachmann repair several times with no improvement, I finally made it work by gutting it, installing pointed wheelsets, and hooking it up to a Kato.:p Yes, they're beautiful models, but other than that, they're just paperweights. :(
Supposedly they have a new release that works better, but for the original Spectrum Dash 8 I dont think there's any light at the end of that tunnel.
Better to replace them with the Atlas model.

Our roster has taken on a new look, from older Atlas/Kato models and non DCC Kato
to everything new KATO & ATLAS DCC ready. We have added some Athearn, Intermountain in there which I think with eveyrthing new, we are almost ready for our DCC conversion.
Everything else has been sold, so in 3 months we've totally updated our roster.

Has anyone here tried the Lenz Gold Mini, with the Power-1 add on? It would seem the only advantage of going to the Gold over the Silver is the ability for the add on, but it does add quite a bit more to the bill (getting in same range as a Tsunami)

I am a firm believer in TCS. After I fried the lenz decoder in my MP-15 Atlas, I switched it to TCS, now every purchase from now on is TCS. I used to use lots of digitraxx but now, TCS all the way.

I stand behind TCS to the point that I didnt bother with a sound install in my AC-12 in order to use a TCS decoder.... Plus the novelty of sound is starting to get old for me any ways.

Same here, great decoders and great back up for them. And they are working on a sound decoder if you change your mind later... :D

+1 I've actually took advantage of their Goof Proof warranty a few times when I started installing decoders a while back. And their instructions are really good compared to what's out there. Won me for life. :)
