I have just destroyed my PCB off a GP38, so I have a slight problem.

Can I hardwire a coreless motor direct to the frame or wheel wipers, or do they require a control board fitting between the motor and track supply.

John drop me an email at rob@ztrack.com. I will see if we can come up with a PCB for you.

Best solution is to get a board from AZL, but you can wire the power pickup from the brass contacts near the trucks and wire it to the motor. Don't wire it directly to the trucks. It could effect the turning of the trucks. You will also need to rewire the lights.

Frame to motor will function fine, but we can't warranty it because we're not doing the labor. Careful with the motor tabs if you solder to them because they lead DIRECTLY to the brushes on the motor and the soldering iron heat can easily damage them and kill the motor.

Safest solution: let Rob Kluz get you a new PCB.

    Good luck!

In N scale I have taped wires from the tender to the steam locomotive frame with scotch tape for tender pickup. Worked fine, might be an easy solution, no harm no foul.
