Does anyone know off hand if the Milwaukee Road ran container or stack trains or did they go out of buisness before this was done?? [IMG]

From what I hear, they used to have a good sized chunk of the Seattle container market, but that was before they closed their lines-west. I think that would have been before double stacks caught on as well, so it would have been most likely containers on 89' flat cars...

Don't know about the eastern end, I guess that was around late enough, but I don't know if they would have used doublestacks or not?

The lines West were gone before double stacks came on the scene. Although SP did experiment with them, I don't recall Milwaukee ever testing them. Funny, how if they had some traffic like that, it might have been enough to keep them alive. IIRC, the double stacks didn't hit it big until 1985 or so. A brace of Milwaukee SD40-2's pulling a train of double stacks would have looked neat.

Thanks for the info guys, I don't ever recall seeing any running through Wisconsin. All I remember is the semi trailers on flatcars. But then again they say the mind is the second thing to go!!!!!! [IMG]
