There is a pink mexican restaurant in Moab (still in business? can't remember the name) that I thought had some of the best mexi food. I've been thinking to head that way with my sons for some food and site seeing but if that is no more then maybe just go to Fruita instead.

Built a house and lived in Moab for a couple years, early 90's, before moving 70 miles south to Blanding. The best Mexican in Moab is the food truck that parks on main (191) & 100 North there now. Will be there to enjoy it next week.

The one you are thinking of might be on the SW corner at Main and 100 South, Fiesta Mexicana. Eaten there many times but now our choice is the food truck usually unless we want to go inside and sit down.

In Cortez, CO there are a number but our favorite is La Casita on main going east from downtown on the north side. Like it as much as the Moab food truck.

If anyone is coming our way shoot me a PM. We are on 191 between Moab and Monument Valley.

I will definitely get a hold of you when I head that way. I used to pass through Blanding to see our Daughter who lived in Chandler AZ. Once my oldest boy gets his motorcycle endorsement I plan to ride with him on that same route.

Cortez has special place in my heart. My first train ride as a young 8 year old (Durango Silverton) included stopping and staying there. Beautiful country all through that place.

Sounds good. Nice motorcycle country to ride through. Where are you in Utah? We had some good rides in Utah, Colorado, Montana and Wyoming before getting rid of the big bike about 4 years ago. Got rid of the dirt bike two years ago. It was finally time and not a good idea for me to be out riding around the canyons by myself anymore.

I live in Sevier County. One of my favorite rides is from Naturita to Grand Junction. Hardly any time spent straight up on that road lol. I've been looking at getting some property in La Sal area. If satellite internet was more reliable I'd probably be out there already.

The rough sawn Ponderosa pine I used in my house build came from there but the saw mill burnt down some years back. The big Moab boom in housing has probably push land prices up there also like most of this area since I moved here. Bears Ears is probably also going to continue to push property prices up also as more and more people find this area.

Not sure about the temps in La Sal but maybe similar to Monticello (20 miles from us) and they are usually 10 degrees colder thanr us. Glad I didn't settle there as it would of been too much like Wyoming where I lived for years temp/snow wise. The weather here is better than any place I've ever lived. Humidity under 10% in the summer. Only a couple 100 degree days since I've been here (30 years) and the winters are pretty mild. Bluff 20 miles south is 10-15 degrees hotter (over a 100 a lot, like Moab). Maybe only 3-7 days all year where there is cloud cover all day.

Best place I've lived and have lived in Missouri, Illinois, California, Washington, Montana and Wyoming. Almost everything outside the city limits is public land so go about any place you want to go and you have your choice of canyons or mountains in under 30 minutes. Great health care here now also. Maybe I'd better not sell it too much as 16,000 people in Utah's largest county (larger than some states) is about the right size ;).

Did do that on the bike before selling it and that is a great area to ride through. From Gateway back towards Junction you go up and over through Unaweep Canyon, the canyon with 'two mouths', I think the only one in the U.S. or world. Interesting geologically as they believe it was formed by an older course of the Colorado River or Gunnison River.

Also if you ride dirt/gravel at all you can go from Gateway up and around the north end of the La Sal's and come down in Moab or Castle Valley. We take people the other way around. Blanding to Moab then over/around the mountain and down to Gateway and loop back south to home. Really pretty drive with lots of mountain and canyon views. This is really an interesting area.

From where you are to Chandler going through Blanding isn't exactly the straightest route ;). 95 from past Hanksville to here by Lake Powell is a pretty drive'ride also and you have lots of nice rides over where you are also.

If some of the rest of you haven't been to this part of the country think about visiting. A beautiful place to visit and explore.

One of my biggest regrets in the hobby is not picking one of these up when they were originally available. However, the prices seemed too high to me then. Now they're in the stratosphere.

I've been following them for a couple years and prices in the $300's seem common. The other day there was one listed at $110. I started following it expecting the bids to start taking the price much higher. Counting down to the final seconds it was still at $110. With 5 seconds to go I bid $173 knowing $110 wasn't going to do it. I got outbid in the last second at $176 and that person (one of you? ;)) probably had his auto bid set to go quite a bit higher.

I'm Union Pacific and they didn't have one but live about 80 miles from the 'real' one so would like to get one if possible. What I did bid is still higher than I'd really like to go but finding one for less now is unrealistic. If I still want one down the road I'm thinking about designing and printing one. Looks like a fairly simple design to get close to. I have a feeling it would be a popular download if I ever do it or someone else does.

Something like this. I just need to repower it because it was using one of the old Bachmann doodlebug power trucks with split white plastic gears. :(

I guess I might have to find a doodlebug to make use of, because I think I lost some of the axle parts in addition to the gears being split.
