At an NMRA meet on saturday I got my first look at one of these beauties. The owner was delighted with the looks and performance of the model. During tests it restarted 26 passenger cars on a 4% grade I also was very impressed by the level of detail and the very smooth, quiet running qualities. Below is the locomotive, with Jim, the proud owner at the throttle Quality N scale steam is alive and well. Here's to more of them!
Nice shots Alan! Do you know, are the other Daylight passenger cars in his consist also Con-Cor? Have you heard anything about their performance? Looks? I model HO, but that Daylight is hard to resist in any scale!
I would love to have one of those, BUT, I would have to paint it my own railroad colors and I think that just would't be right. Great photos.
Not sure about the make of the passenger cars, Pete. I will ask Jim, as I will be speaking to him shortly.
Pete, The passenger cars you're looking at appear to be Kato smoothsides. I've got ten of 'em to go with my GS4. The colors don't match as nicely as I'd like, nor do the stripes when coupling the GS4 to the Kato cars. I haven't determined who's off tho - Life-Like Daylight PAs/Bs are closer in color/lines to the Con Cor so for all I know the Kato cars could be slightly off? As for looks and performance, you can check a previous thread that contains some info and pics here: http://www.trainboard.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=001983 I can tell you my ConCor GS4 runs smooth and pulls nicely - just did 30 freight cars (limited layout space) without breaking a sweat. I'm very happy with mine. -Mike
