I have never understood a locomotive that looks like a pick-up truck, so I would have to stay away from this model. This is just my opinion in case some are readying the nukes to launch at me for just stating an opinion. Let me guess, "I make no sense" LOL ! fatalxsunrider43
You were just born to late to understand. It was designed by GM styling. It was to be a big part of the future that never came. Instead of luxury and progress, we got econo-boxes and no space travel. Where is my flying car and jet pack anyway?
Initially, mine would derail constantly. I realized the problem was a lot of flash on the "diaphragms" between the cars, which would catch as the cars went into and out of a curve. It runs much better now that I have cleaned them up. Adding weight does help also. As has been stated, there is an 8 pin socket for DCC; however, that leaves the decoder plainly visible sitting in the passenger compartment. I used a hardwired decoder and placed it above the light board wired to the back of the 8 pin socket(you still have to make sure you remove the 8 pin DC plug).
I do believe this made it onto the GN in a tour back when. Still not enough to make me part with my $$ though. I still have a lot of upgrades to do to my existing pass fleet, need a few more tenders, and a whole passell of parts for my small fleet of Columbia River Vessels, not to mention mini connectors for the tender powering project, more decals, etc. So its a no even on the GM demostrator model. I do have some Concor in my roster, all from back when Kato mechs were under them, and the only new thing I have from Concor is a Goose that runs just fine.
