Can anybody tell me when the permanent switcher based at Colorado Springs was withdrawn? During DRGW and SP days, did all three railroads using Colorado Springs (BN/DRGW/ATSF)take it in turns to supply the daily switch locomotive or was it just DRGW and Santa Fe? Finally was a locomotive sent to Colorado Springs every day to work, and returned to Denver or Pueblo at the end of the day?. Thanks in advance Ron Rio Grande - Railroad thru the Rockies. (I'll maybe get the lowdown on this railroad some day!!!!)
It has been awhile since i've been to Colorado Springs, but years ago i remember seeing GP30s. I don't know if they were the assigned switchers or not though.
The Colorado Springs switcher is still working. The DRGW3129 is assigned to Colo. Sprgs. Last I recall crew worked mon-fri starting at 0800am. There was also a Santa Fe switcher stationed there also but don't know if it's still there or not. Mike
