Made my yearly (well first of several I should say) trip to the railroad museum in Golden. Wanted to check out their latest acquisitions (some of the old Manitou & Pike's Peak equipment) and see what was up. Snapped quite a few photos of a random assortment of the stock. Following will be some posts of the snaps.

One of the more recent purchases were two old White Pass & Yukon coaches, which the museum uses for rides. They bought the cars in 2015 I believe to offset the departure of the old Georgetown Loop (pre-2006) equipment that had been stored on site for years.

This car is former WP&Y coach 280 "Lake Dease" (the other is former 286 "Lake Kusawa")

This open-air car is one of two cars the museum built from scratch for train ride purposes as well. If I recall this car is patterned after similar cars used on the Rio Grande around the turn of the century.

Thanks for sharing Bill. I have visited the museum a few times when in the Denver area but it looks like they have added or changed the collection since my last visit. Always surprised that they did not have more of the restored equipment indoors but I know that takes $$.

The site the museum is on isn't entirely conducive to a lot of indoor storage. I will say they though that they do a good job of moving around equipment on a frequent basis and freshen up stock regularly as well. And in some degree they have to as wood tends to rot quicker in the rather dry climate here. And as of late, I've noticed that they've put a lot of focus into some long ignored equipment, including two of the older NG passenger car bodies and putting the others into protective cocoons.

Railcar 7 was built by the M&PP in 1938, originally with a General Motors 707 motor. It was later replaced with a Cadillac V-8.

Somehow they need to at least get roofs over these items. No way they can survive otherwise. :(
