With this year's weather, that could have been taken today. Are those water drops on a car window--those white spots? I think they add to the bleak atmosphere. Nice shot. [ 18. February 2004, 01:09: Message edited by: Peirce ]
Thanks for the compliment, those are large snowflakes. I was leaving Bluefield in my big truck when i saw the locos. Took pic out of driver side window and put it back up very quickly. Dan
I dunno.... I have seen plenty of BNSF units on NS lately, so maybe they are just running off pool miles.... Harold
Well I dont know if its true or not but I heard that NS and BNSF are talking about merging any truth to this??? out here in altoona there is alot of talk about this lately. I have seen more and more BNSF units here so they might be trying something out??? any input would be great Mike
Hi Mike Welcome aboard TrainBoard! As far as any pending BNSF / NS merger, I have no inside knowledge about that..... If the sight of foreign power is supposed to be an indication of a pending merger, then it would appear CSX and UP are going to hook up Harold
Nice shot, NS. But.....how about a nice sunshine filled, warm photo next! LET'S SAY GOODBYE TO WINTER!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol.
I am positive that there will be no more Class 1 railroad mergers. You see all that are left are UP, CSX, BNSF, NS, CP and maybe one other. Just 15 years ago there was over 10
The NS is leasing whatever power they can get ahold of right now.Until the 100 new dash9's get here. You will see mixed power on trains for a number of reasons.Paying back horse power from one railroad to another. And some BNSF trains must run across NS tracks to get from A to B.All the Class 1 Railroads do this between each other.Where I work out of we have UP trains BNSF trains and CN/IC trains that we get out of the North and hand them back off to the respctfull railroads at other points. Seeing foriegn power on trains is by no means a sign of a pending merger.Sometimes you can get some really neat lash up's.It just makes modeling trains that much more fun.
