I've started a kitbash of the Walthers New River Mining Company (N scale). My goal is to spawn three structures from the kit; a coal washer and two small tipples. Here's a photo of last night's preliminary work on the coal washer plant. The structure is in its approximate final position. I will add another siding (for loads in) parallel to the existing one (for loads out) visible here. When all is done, this structure will sit between the two sidings. (By the way, for the operational-realism specialists among us, I don't plan to mess with loads in the cars. The presence of a load in the car won't define whether it is 'truly' loaded.) Now, here's where I would like some help; I haven't yet settled on the configuration of the car unloading pit/shed. Who can point me to some online photos of coal washer plants? I've found some good ones through the Virginia Tech imagebase and a few other sites. I'm looking for inspiration here, so I'm more than happy to look at lots of old pictures.
