Not sure if this belongs here but I'm guessing some answers will fall under fallen flags. Is there a list of Coal hauling shortlines on the web? Preferably from the late 80's til today? Or has coal always been hauled by the big boys? Thanks
Not exactly in your timeframe but the Interstate was a neat little coal hauler that operated completly within Wise County Virginia and is now part of Norfolk Southern.

It is very simple- Originally using "LN" as a prefix was done in error. That is why you don't see anything L&N specific. There is nothing L&N to see, it is not an L&N topic. This is a very ambiguous subject, and could go in several places. For now, it can remain here.
At one time or another, likely the vast majority of all sized railroads moved coal. It depends some on how you are picturing this idea. Do you mean originating the loads from a mine? Receiving loads via rail or barge interchange, then delivering to an on-line customer? Bridge traffic, such as we see on MRL?
The Arkansas-Oklahoma RR also hauls coal, from a loading facility at Red Oak, OK to either Howe or McAlester.
