Does anyone have a date for when the Southern Railway gained control of the Cincinnati, New Orleans & Texas Pacific RY? Boxcab E50
My info shows it was still active in 1982, so it may have been sometime during '82 or after. 10/1881-active 1982. The CNO&TP started life as the Cincinnatti Southern 7/1877-10/1881.
JT- CNO&TP operations were absorbed on January 31, 1969. However, as you've noted, the corporate shell continued to exist. Am trying to find out when Southern RY first came into control of the CNO&TP. Seems as though there needs to be a book written just to document the family tree, with specific dates, for the Southern. For such a notable history, and large company, learning exact dates is extremely difficult. I've contacted the RR itself. And also the Historical Society. But even they don't have answers.
