CN is very strict about trespassing in their yards. However yesterday I got permission to take a few pictures of some unusual equipment. The first is a trackmobile, instead of using an engine in the yard this little thing can move up to 22 loaded cars! The next one is a jet engine mounted with a duct system that is used to thaw out the switches when frozen! This last one is a rebuilt engine, fresh out of the Alco Locomotive Works, and ready to deliver to its new owners Hope you enjoy! David
WOW, that T-Mobile is a BIG DUDE! mg: Talk about bringing back memories...I was allowed to drive a baby TM back in the 60's. It was neat fun until I put on the brakes. The TM went onto its nose because it wasn't coupled to a car. It re-railed itself the minute I let up on the brakes. IIRC, when the TM was coupled onto car, a steel plate under the coupler was jacked up which lifted the car's coulpler slightly. This put more weight on the TM wheels for traction. But when a car wasn't there, the TM was nose heavy and VERY Unstable. Sure was fun, though...after I changed my britches. :embarassed: :shade:
David, great pictures! I can't help but notice the snow in your pictures, a sign of things to come for us here in the mid-west.
SNOW!!!!! Yep, its cold up here! We have had several inches of snow but nothing compared to what Buffalo NY got mg:
