I saw discussion in Rail News about the CN-WC buy out/merger and lots of people said that CN didn't aquire all the assets that WC previously had. This is incorrect as CN will recieve MOST of them. Some one who works with CNR Maintance at the CN Shops has told me that CN will aquire most of them, and is interested in keeping most of them as well. Some of them are quite profitable! CN will have a controlling interest in the Royal Train in England, an interesting fact. Maybe the slogan "Spans the World" should be brought back, but for the CNR. Happy Railroading! Dane N.
CN is buying Wisconsin Central, Ltd., the parent company. as it is the only one with openly-traded stock, and the offer is so much a share. Therefore, it will include WCL's part ownership in EW&S, TranzRail, etc., at least until they can be sold. Since WCL is already trying to sell them, they could be sold before the acquisition takes place. As it stands now, CN is buying the corporation, not just assets.
