    From the TRAINS Newswire:

CN said to get BC Rail

VICTORIA, British Columbia – Canadian National is the winner in the six-month bidding contest for BC Rail, according to a report in today’s Vancouver (B.C.) Sun newspaper. The official announcement is expected to be made next week. The deal will see the operation and management of the railroad go to CN, while the provincial government will retain ownership of the tracks and right-of-way. There has been no official comment from BC Rail.

The railway began operations as Pacific Great Eastern in 1912 and has remained Canada's third largest railway in terms of revenue, about 80% of which is generated from forest, energy, and agricultural products. The other two final bidders were Canadian Pacific and shortline firm OmniTRAX.
