Some shots of detailing on my Climax. Grandt Line parts and a real wood load round er out. I wanted LIGHT weathering so I did a light dusting of artist chalks and then hit the whole thing with Dullcoat. This Climax is DCC with Tsunami sound but bad gearing made it necessary to sacrifice my DC Climax. I "borrowed" the rear truck gearing and the wood cab from the DC Climax which will either remain a Shop Queen or get rebuilt "someday."

What did you use to make the wood?

My maternal grandfather worked for a logging RR, which at one time used wood burners. He started out having to buck, split and stack the wood. Said it was back breaking work. I can believe it!

The wood was a stick that my 5 year old got for me. It has a nicely browned exterior with a light tan interior. I think it is from our Navajo Willow tree. My splitting work was no where near as tough as your grandfather's must have been :D I first cut it to length with scissors , then used a hobby knife to split it into quarters lengthwise.
