Here Kitty, Kitty -- Get on the Train
    2003-06-20 --

Tigers and other wild beasts will be brought to Texas next week as part of the Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus.

The circus will be transported via BNSF from Lafayette, La., to Houston, and on to Austin, Texas, for performances June 25 - 29. And as one might expect, it takes a lot of equipment to move "The Greatest Show on Earth" -- specifically a train consist 4,788 feet long (not including the two locomotives), made up of four stock cars, 34 coaches, two container flat cars and 17 flat cars for equipment. Not a bad entourage.

This summer, the circus will also be in the following cities:

    ~ San Antonio, Texas: July 2 - 6

    ~ Houston: July 10 - 20

    ~ New Orleans: July 23 - 27

    ~ Dallas: July 30 - Aug. 10

    ~ Fort Worth: Aug. 13 - 17

    ~ Wichita, Kan.: Aug. 21 - 24

    ~ Moline, Ill.: Aug. 27 - Sept. 1

    ~ Green Bay, Wis.: Sept. 4 - 7

    ~ Kansas City, Mo.: Sept. 10 - 14
