I'm going to be taking a trip with my family in July via Amtrak to the Chicago, IL area (Crystal Lake to be more precise). Does anyone have any suggestions for some N-scale places, clubs, maybe a private layout tour, or whatever to visit. (E-mail if you prefer to not to discuss in a public forum on the topic. Especially if you don't want to sponsor a convention.)

I really would prefer to see something in N-scale rather than accompany my wife, sister-in-law, and daughters to the American Girl Store for a day of shopping.

I understand that there is a N-scale club in Palatine. Does anyone have connections to them, or know someone that does? Are out-of-towners welcome?

Please help.... I hope someone has some suggestions because I'm afraid that I will be suffering from withdrawal while I am there if I don't find something to do. Thanks.

hey up guy, there is a club in palatine called the northwest ntrak group, you might be able to contact charlie vlk through kato on email directed to him also palatine hobbies might be able to help you out. also you must visit timeless hobbies in wheaton and end of track hobbies in franklin park. the last time at end of track for me was 2 yrs ago but they had anything and everything you could want.i'm not sure what there is in the city. also there is a club in broadview with a gigantic layout but im not sure how to contact them, other than check back issues of mr in the club section. hope this helps.

Too bad you will not be in the area on June 24/25.

Northwest Ntrak, from Palatine, Heritage Ntrak from the Joliet area, and Ntrak of Bloomington/Normal will be set up and running at the annual Galesburg Railroad Days Train Show in Galesburg Illinois. There will also be a number of modules from Dayton, Ohio and the Milwaukee in with these groups.

    Darn, timing is everything!

Thanks for the suggestions. Keep them coming. I'm curious...does Kato have anything interesting to see at their headquarters or is it just corporate offices? Also, did you spell the name correctly? Is it "Charlie Vlk?"

If anyone has the name of a contract for the Broadview group, I would appreciate receiving it. Thanks again for the help.
