Here are links to videos I took while chasing UP #844.

The stop in Livingston, TX was awesome. They shut down the main highway through town (US 190) for 1/2 hour while the Heritage train stopped for servicing and showing.

SailorDon, you have hit on my great passion, live steam at the twelve inch to the foot scale. 844 is a beauty and one of the few of today's operating steam locomotives that one can see out on the main lines. I first got to see the 844 at the California State Railway Museum Railfair in 1991, and finally got to ride behind her in 2007, doubleheaded with Southern Pacific 4449.

The only thing that could top this live steam event is if the UP Challenger came steaming through Livingston. I would love to see that.

I think it happened once when the Challenger steamed into Houston for the Superbowl. I lived in Houston back then and missed the whole thing.:crying:
