For me, today was a very good day for Espee power! Thursday mornings I usually hangout at the Fullerton Amtrak depot with some friends to checkout the goings on on the Santa F.., uh, I mean BNSF, then scoot on over to the SP depot at Anaheim to see if there is any Espee power laying over for the Anaheim Hauler or various locals. Pretty typical morning on the BNSF; nothing but hordes of H2 Dash-9's, although a couple of SD45-2's on a couple of eastbounds livened things up. Then on to Anaheim...on the way, me and my friend caught the Costa Mesa local on its way back to Anaheim; power was a UP GP15-1 and a Cotton Belt GP40-2. Neat part of it is that this local does some street running for part of the trip, including some through residential neighborhoods! Naturally, I snapped photos. [IMG] Then on to the depot, and the best prize of the day, the power for the Anaheim Hauler, made up of SP SD40R 7307, and (drumroll, please) SP SD45T-2R 6813! I was pretty surprised; I didn't think very many, if any, SD45T-2R's were left on the active roster! Her paint was a little ragged, but otherwise she looked good. About the only traces of UP ownership were the spare knuckle holders on the rear pilot, and MU receptacle "can" on the end handrail stanchions. I used up the rest of my film on this unit. [IMG] Pretty weird...the SD45T-2's seemed to be everywhere a few years ago, and now they are few and far between, especially the T-2R versions. I can honestly say I hadn't seen one in nearly a year! [IMG] It's good to see it still working and on the roster, although I realize today might have been my last time to see that unit. I guess you'd better take pictures today, because it might be gone tomorrow. [IMG]

I'll see what I can do about pics...sometimes, I'm notoriously slow when it comes to getting film processed, but lately I've been getting caught up on my film backlog; I just got back some shots that were taken nearly 2 years ago!
