Anyone seen the August RailModel Journal? A really nice story, and great color photos, on the Skibbe family Chicago Great Western N scale layout! Boxcab E50
It was also featured in either Model Railroader or Great Model Railroads some time back. I agree- a nice-looking layout! And I REMEMBER seeing blocks of CGW F-units in Des Moines, IA, a few blocks from where I lived, as well as up in Oelwein, IA in mid-August 1968, after the CNW merger. The "Great Weedy" is a great road to model in any scale! [ November 08, 2005, 02:52 PM: Message edited by: friscobob ]
Great Model Railroads, 2003. Mike is a TrainBoard member. But haven't heard from him in a while? Boxcab E50
Mike's layout is cool... I like the scene with the rocky cut, and the SD40's passing thru it... That shot was in GMR '03, IIRC... http://www.cgwrr.com/
It's a great layout, although Oelwein yard actually had 32 tracks. But it must be *condensed* to fit on a layout.
