Just had an e-mail from a friend. CCT 1504 was rolled out of the paint shop at CEECo today. (Tacoma, Washington.) He did send me a picture. But I don't have permission to post it. Looks great. You guys in California will need to watch for this engine, and get some pictures! Boxcab E50
What's up with CCT? I thought they shut down in 1998 & UP took over the route (at least that's what Ted Benson's book 'One Track Mind' says....)
Finally!! I've been waiting for the last one to get done before I head down there for pics. By the way, plans are supposedly to paint the ex Pacific Harbor Lines GP7 they've been using while their SW1500s get painted next. Should be numbered #701 I believe and wear a similar red scheme. The CCT is far from shut down. #1504 is the last ex UP SW1500 to get painted out of four and as stated, the plans are for the GP7 next. Check out Dave Eplings CCT site for further info: The Unofficial Central California Traction Site Tons of good stuff there!! Maybe Dave will post here.
Thanks for the link. It refers to service between Stockton & Sacramento being discontinued in 1998 - I guess that's what Ted is referring to in the book. Glad to hear that they are not completely kaput - and sporting a cool paint scheme to boot! Do they still run in the street in Stockton?
dave n- You need to get yourself a copy of the October 2005 issue of Railfan & Railroad. It contains a well done article giving the entire history of the CCT, with a section updating events on the CCT through June 2005. If you are seriously interested in this road look for the CCT book that Signature Press kicked out last year- one of the better books written about any railroad ever. The same authors wrote both the book and the R&R article. Jeff Moore Elko, NV
You won't regret it... The issue is new enough that you will probably find it still on the rack in some hobby shops. If none are handy call Carstens directly and get one from them. Jeff Moore Elko, NV
Anyone have a road map of CCT tracks? I think it's the CCT that runs right behind my house. It comes around 9:30pm +/- 10 minutes every night. Pretty dependable.
Welcome aboard! I didn't see that article previously mentioned, so would also be interested in seeing a good system map. Boxcab E50
