I have just seen a somewhat obscure photo of a CEFX SD90, a lease engine that predominatly runs with CP. Theengine is a unique scheme and looks very nice.

Has anyone got a decent picture of the engine? Can anyone suggest what colors the engine is painted in, I noticed the gray roof and what looks to be a SOO red rather than the red used on the CP SD 90s.

If anyone can provide a link, I would appreciate the assistance.

I believe these units are actually on Potash with the UP currently. They are more of a maroonish red color, not CP action red. Grey Roof and white striping. Decals available at http://www.mgdecals.com/homepage.htm for both N and HO scale.

Two of these were on the VRS summer of 2000, and myself along with a couple of other fans got some nice shots. Good shots coming out of the shops on this page: http://www.jefflubchanskycpa.com/lease.html

I believe they are numbered 100 to 139.

    Thanks Robin and Corey,

I had already found the oddball decal site and the other site you had listed. I have an undec Nscale Sd90Mac that I am hoping to have painted in the CEFX scheme, I would like to det an idea of the colours as you said, it is not CP red, but a darker more maroon red.

The scheme looks striking, I wonder if the oddball decals have the paint colours as microscale does. The link Robin provided is probably the best pic yet, I would like a clearer view of the roof detail.

Did you check out the prototype photos on the decal site? http://www.mgdecals.com/CEFX.htm

    Couple of roof shots there.

A fellow photographer had some good pics of the 90s scanned, but he has since taken them off of his site. I'll see if I can get him to send me some and I'll post them. I got my pics before I moved up to an SLR, so they are not really of good quality.

    EDIT:

Just found this one, good shots of both locos.

    Thanks Corey,

I just have to get my father, he does all my painting, to get onto this project. I have him busy on a few of mine and he is busy on some of his own.

I will post you pics when completed.

The hardest task now is determining the colours.

    Thanks

Let me know what you come up with. I actually helped the guy at Highball Graphics, sent him my undec so he could get some measurements for the CEFX 90Macs in N, so I'm going to get around to doing one too. He sent me a free copy of the set too.

    Corey,

I noticed the decal set price as $6. What is the quality of the decal set? Are they similiar to apply as microscale, are they as good as the microscale in crispness and clarity? Does he provide color advice as microscale does in there decal sheets? What color do you intend painting your SD90? I use Floquil as it is the easiest to get in Aust. It looks like a darker version of Soo Red.

The gray roof looks rather light, and I have seen a photo of one with black on the roof like a CP SD90/43 Mac.

I will order a decal set, but I am a little wary of the post at the moment, I have been awaiting an order from the US for over a month now.

Ah yes, the shipping to Australia may take some time. As for the decals, the film is a little thicker than Microscale, but they are pretty much the same to work with. They are pretty sharp in my opinion, and I have a FURX SD40-2 done with his decals, and I see no problem with them. He's a one-man operation, so he doesn't have any color advice. I also plan on using floquil, so we can compare notes on that.

    Corey,
Here is a photo of an SD90 painted in CEFX and 4Sale at Nscale supply.

The paint work looks clear, and it answers my Roof Paint question.

Colour still is the only issue.

Well, the roof paint depends on the model. 139 definitely has a black roof, while 138 has a gray one. Look at the links from the guy in Vermont (sover.net) that I posted and they show that well. And yes, now the only issue is the color.
