My friend Jeff and I decided to head out for Stockton,CA to railfan the Central California Traction today. I needed updated pics of all their units for my rosters. First stop was the Cherokee Rd shops area which appears to be under either condemnation or complete rebuilding. Was able to catch a couple of the GPs there. Next we decided to head to the port to see If we could find the SW1500s now that they are all in red paint. Got to the guard gate of the port and were turned back by some young enthusiastic guard who insisted we couldn't take any photos. Bad thing was all the units were within sight. Grrrr. Well this wasn't gonna stop us so we drove the perimeter and found a different driveway to the CCT office. After obtaining permission we were able to get pics of the rest of the roster. After shooting almost a full roll of film, we headed for Woodland to see what we could find. Got a couple shots of some California Northern units and a mystery centercab (see other thread). We decided to end our trip by checkin in on the Yolo Shortline/Sierra Northern at McClellan Park. Got a real nice treat there, Sierra #46. For the rest of the pics, my Foothill Rails site rosters have been updated. Check em out! Whats New
I had read about the CCT in a recent issue of Railfan & Railroad. Is the track north of Stockton still intact, or has it been removed? Gotta loved the varied motive power- it all looks good, even if in different paint schemes! That black & yellow ex-Santa Fe GP7- wonder where it came from? Nearest place I can guess would be from Watco (their colors have gone to yellow & black). It does look pretty sharp! Thanks for sharing the pics....
Yep, the track between Stockton and Lodi is still in use. Everything north of there is not and has possibly allready torn up. The yellow and black unit is #44 and is ex Alameda Belt Line, ex ATSF.
I sure hope CSX doesn't intercept the picture of #46 and try to sue based on some vague violation of paint scheme copyright!!!mg::angel: Really nice shots!
