Hi I need help getting info on CB&Q coal hoppers!! Did the CB&Q and the C&S hoppers both have WAY OF THE ZEPHYER and EVERYWHERE WEST, one motto on one side and one motto on the other? Does anyone have paint schemes, diagrams or prototype pictures? I am trying to get some hoppers made, and there was a question about which mottos was used whith wich cars and how they were displayed. Thanks!
Without knowing where you have searched, there is at least one color photo of a CB&Q hopper in the old paint scheme (BCR with "Everywhere West.") in the photo section of the Burlington Route Historical Society website. The Illinois Railway Museum has two restored CB&Q ballast hoppers (220100, 220145) with pictures available on their website. Those are BCR with the different slogans on opposite sides. (http://www.irm.org/roster/index.html) My copy of the CB&Q Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment is still packed up from my move but I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in the Burlington Route. I wish I had more but I hope this helps.
I had a terrific message for you, but the computer would not let me publish it cuz I had not logged in to my Hotmail address. I don't know computers, so I wasted 1/2 an hour for nothing. I won't attempt it again. I love trains, but I hate computers. Long story short, the beet hoppers had the one logo on one side, and the other on the flip side. They were old 2 bay hoppers, circa 1930s and 40's some ribbed some offset, . I was only 4 years old, but I remember them like they were yesterday. That was 53 years ago.
Thanks..my hotmail disappered. I am still doing z but I am thinking of going into n because nothing in Z that I have is done right
