Lokking good !! One question though... How do the locomotives get on the turntable...when its on the roof of the roundhouse ?? !!
Hi My earnest advice- make facade mountain fronts only and do not make a real tunnel out of those track lengths. They will be a real PIA to manage, keep sparkling clean, and hope you have at least 3 feeders or 1 per track length plus soldered joiners. I can attest that a much smaller , 3' diameter helix mountain in Unitrack ( 2 of them) were a real pain to upkeep, and until realignment happened, keep things like 6 axle locos turning. Don't run for some months? Expect to do a lot of polishing. Regards dave
Well because George likes to give me laughs. I finally decided to just go ahead with getting it in. The big thing on the turntable? That's lead. Just holding down the turntable as it sets. Tastes yummy too! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I have also decided to tackle my big trestles. The dark one is a cornerstone model. Not real impressed and kinda hard to get it together. The other is a balsa wood one currently under construction. This one will take me awhile. Once I get the guts and outer framework done. I will start on the cross bracing. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Apparently. You have too. Because I said it was tasting yummy. Now I know where the other lead brick is......... Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
The panda, the trestles and more have me thinking back on John Allen's sense of humor, his modeling style and more...
Well some of what he did inspired me. Such as the namesake of my railroad. I have no idea where that panda came from. I do have ornery children. I forget how his trestles looked. I have not seen a John Allen book in ten years. Not since I last saw my brother in Montana. There is also a Makoshika dinosaur on my layout somewhere but alas I can't seem to locate him lately. Today the hobby shop called to tell me my Hiawatha was in. Since I had little going on I made the hour trip and picked it up. I love it ! Excellent detailing. And I love the dome. Since I don't want any diesels pulling it I am waiting. There is a Baltic I am waiting on. In the meantime this little Pacific will have to do... By the way. The decoder in the Atlantic fried recently. But it still looks good ... Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
WOW! What a great group of pics! LOVING the Hiawatha, mine should arrive any day... and your FVM set is a stunner, I never shoulda sold mine... who was I fooling, trying to switch to Z scale? LOL Keep the posts coming, that trestle scene is... inspiring to say the least!! Cheers!
Today my Hiawatha Baltic arrived from the shop. I am impressed. Only took two days drive time to get here. This thing must be fast! Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I have not been very motivated or energetic to do any work for the last couple of months. But I thought I would share the great set up I have. I think it's gorgeous. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I am sincerely glad to hear it made it to home rails intact! The shop forces had a lot of bets going about how she would arrive! It looks like Ole is going to cash in good, as he said it would arrive in great shape! Enjoy! Now make some revenue with that thing!
Itz been an interesting 2 years since my stroke. Part of my problem was time. (Work has actually picked up. And I am usually exhausted afterwards. ) And I was constantly having to clean track when I wanted to run trains. Until....... I discovered CRC 2-26. This stuff is just awesome. I very seldom have to do any track cleaning. And some locos that didn't seem to run right, do now. No more restarts in the middle of a run. The just move right along. No slippage on my 2% slope with with my Hiawatha and its 9 cars. I love the stuff! Best thing I ever bought and I discovered it by accident! The other part is that I tried to explain to my brother today all these things I bought, and have no idea when i bought them at all. Lol. Damn stroke mind. Sometimes its fun.... Just a couple of more videos of the trains in action! It was good to see just how big a difference the CRC 2-26 made! Seeing the trains sputter and kick, then turn into smooth runners immediately after a wipe down with the stuff was impressive!!
