    I have already asked both.

Because I am not connected to some official agency, the only versions that will be released to a civilian is the one that cuts off. The media will not show a person at moment of impact, nor death. I have a recording from the TV news, but it does not show her getting hit, nor how far it knocked her body.

That is why you can't convince these kids that the whole thing is not just media hype. Besides, they all feel it would never happen to them. I have even heard the opinion that if it really did kill someone, the railroad would squelch it, so there is no real proof, because of scareing riders, and insurance companies. It is the same with airplanes, trucks, and busses. You have to be a lawyer, or officer to get a tape of an accident victim.

They certainly don't want to set off some watch dog "do gooder" group that is really against the railroads. The trucker's organizations were sighted as one possibility that would use the death footage to their own advantage.

I think it is sad that none of them gave any thought to trying to educate our youth to grow up respecting trains, or even their own life. It was all lets protect the company!

In this day and age, I have to think that the company needs to be protected. It is a sad fact that people will sue because of their own stupidity. However, the railroads should realize that educating the public is the way to go...in protecting themselves. What I love to see are railroad Employees thinking about the public and being involved in OL. When I get settled down in a job, and out of school, I plan on getting involved with them, they are great, and hope they continue. [IMG]

I'm an assistant den leader in a Cub Scout pack here in the Valley. Some time back I suggested to some of the committee members for the local Scout Council that OL do presentations to the various Scouting units. An OL rep came out & did a presentation at one of our Roundtable meetings, and it went over well. For my son's Webelos patrols, I'd like to have them sit through an OL presentation (would go toward their Traveler
    badge).
As the SCripture says, "raise up a child in the way he should go, so when he grow, he will not stray from it". Theach these guys that 15,000-ton coal trains and 79 mph Amtrak
trains aren't to be taken lightly.

I have only seen the incident from one other place it was on the internet. But I don't remember the site it was at watash. If I see my teacher again I will ask him for you.

I just got my Operation Lifesaver course done so anyone who wants an OL presentation in my neck of the woods, shoot me a line. I'm getting lots of inquiries so book early. Get me away from the list for a few hours. :D :D :D
