As many already know....I have been very busty between Army life, college, and the family (most important). So the progress on the layout has been slow.

This version of the Canton Division is greatly scaled down from the plans I had before. Also, I did not use the computer to plan this version of the layout. I had a detailed image in my mind and I used that. I must say though, that the work done in plannong for the the previous layout versions made it easy to imagine this plan.

I still need more turnouts than what is currently installed. I have not built the small yard for Butler Paper, spur for Grower's Valley Grain Elevator, spurs for flour mill and larger elevators, need to complete the yard for the power plant, etc.....

Right now the layout can run a train on DC but cannot use the double crossovers because those areas create reverse loops. DCC with reverse loop modules is in transit to me as I type this. I sold my SuperChief in March of 07. I am scaling down here as well and will be returing to DCC with the Digitrax Zepher.

    Overall Theme:
Canton is a small to medium sized town in Minnesota....sort of :) hey it's my world :) GRAIN is the major industry here as there are 3 grain elevators, feed mill, a small flour mill located here. Butler Paper is also located here in Canton. Most trains will be around the 25 or so cars. The rail line is owned by BNSF but CP also operates heavily here. Both CP Rail and BNSF grain trains are not an uncommon sight here.

The majority of the layout is the town and nearby areas of Canton. The other end of the layout has elevation changes, a small river, lots of woods and wildlife, and a small coal fired generating station (power plant). Small BNSF unit trains serve the power plant.

Much of the layout is single tracked with some double tracked area in Canton.

I will update captions to the photos in my rail images but for now...you can look at them and get a general overview of my layout construction...and yes there is allot of clutter right now. :)

Here is a photo of my remaining three of five BNSF locos:

very nice layout, what type of track are you using?

is the grain elevator in the photos custom built or a walthers kit? It looks very nice.

all my best, and stay safe if still in the army,

Thanks for the comment, the layout is just beyond the hatching stage :). The elevators are all Walthers kits. The large elevator needs to be completed and weathered......that has been on delay for a few years :) The layout has a long ways to go. :)
