Hi, just looking for some experiences and feedback about the Cannon S series cameras. I currently have a Cannon A60 and am looking at upgrading. I was considering going to a digital SLRs but they have more features than I will every want or use. All I'm after is a camera in the higher MP range with lots of optical zoom and capable of Recording VGA quality video with sterio sound. The S3is seems to be a good all round camera with the features I want. DC
The S series are awesome cameras. They are as close as you can get to a DSLR without going that route. The IS makes it perfect for the longer lens. I would go for it.
My daughter has one and absolutely loves it, especially the IS. I played with it the last time I was in New York. It is extremely versatile. The image quality is a little less than a full-blown DSLR but good enough for almost everything. It's nice carrying one little camera rather than two DSLRs and three lenses. My back was hurting after our Alaska trip. I too would go for it. It's a very good value--more camera than most people will ever really need.
I think the S cameras are great option, especially with their extremely long focal lengths and Image Stabilization. A lot more lens and power than the smaller point and shoots, but not nearly the heft or image quality of the DSLR's. Harold
