I was looking through the Yesteryear Depot collection and came across this shot of 4-8-2 (Mountain) #6031. I remembered that face from long ago and checked out my collection of photos from Steamtown when it was in Bellow Falls, Vermont. Here is a sister engine #6039.
The most famous Mountain is 6060 (nick named Bullet Nosed Betty). After 6218s time ran out, CN dragged 6060 out of a park and ran it on excursions for a number of years. It is owned now by a preservation group out west and still runs occasionally.
Guys, is 6039 still at Steamtown in Scranton? She was there in 1995, last time I was there. Since then, Pacific 1293 has left there and is now operational on Ohio Central, and Hudson 2816 was returned to CP, restored, and is operational.
