Good morning! What a view I woke to. I've got a colorful sunrise out the left window and a setting full moon out if the right!
You should have a beautiful ride through the Sierras in a couple of hours. It is a gorgeous, clear day!
I grabbed a great pic of the Truckee snow equipment on my Canon, but here's a shot of the town I can share now.
Donner lake was one giant mirror! Dead still. Passed through the long tunnel and now started descending into the Sacramento valley.
Our engineer seems to be having fun with the horn warning all the track mobile equipment we've been passing these past dew miles.
At Emigrant Gap, the tracks run through the Marin-Sierra Boy Scout Camp, where I spent many summers both as a camper and on staff (many many moons ago)
Looking out the window, I wonder if these telegraph lines that run along the track are still in use or just a remanent of the past. The cable that supports the wire is rusted to a bright red! And some of the small wire no longer drapes from poll to poll but is seen several feet up strung taunt between tree limbs!! Did growing trees grab the wire and lift it as they grew?
Once again I catch train #6 passing by!! It would have been a much better shot had I been a few cars back, but a good catch nonetheless. I used my Canon so everyone will have to wait until tonight. Sorry.
We've been cut off by a slow moving freight! :tb-hissyfit: Sitting on the main about 13 miles from Sacramento Station.
