It's that time of year again! The California Southern Model RR Club Fall Open house will be taking place November 18, 19, and 21. Be sure to check out our website at http://trainweb.org/calsomrr for times, directions how to get there, the layout plan, and other neat stuff. Paul #3 ------------------ Have A Nice Day!
Is the CS a big club? That is a classy website, and a good looking layout! Unfortunately it is a little too far away for me to visit the open house Good luck with the open house, and the layout. ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.alancurtismodels.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery
Thanks for the kind words, Alan. Our website designer just finished the version of the site that's currently up, and he was wondering if folks would like it. As for the club, we're decent-sized; the building we're in is about 25'x75' feet, and membership is at about 25 members (more-or-less! ). The mainline and staging yards can accomodate 30-35 car trains, and we operate cab control, with four mainline cabs, and two yard cabs (more for the locals later). We've been working on this layout for a little over 2 years now, and it's a big improvement over our old layout. And of course, if you're ever on this side of the pond, you're more than welcome to pay us a visit! Paul #3 ------------------ Have A Nice Day!
Thanks Paul, I would love to visit sometime Looks like you have a very active membership to achieve that with 25 people. Keep up the good work In our local club only about 5% of the members actually did anything So I left! ------------------ Alan The perfect combination - BNSF and N Scale! www.alancurtismodels.com Andersley Western Railroad Alan's American Gallery

Paul #3, can you put in a shot of your turntable and pit? I'm interested in how you will operate it, and how you are going to operate the roundhouse doors. Neat looking layout so far. Are you connecting the upper and lower levels by helix, or long grade? ------------------ Watash

The table that's currently in place probably won't be used; it's a leftover from the original layout, and is in pretty ratty shape. We're looking at replacing it with a Diamond Scale turntable and index. When it comes to the roundhouse, we're still looking at various types, and unsure of which brand to get. And as for the question about the connection between the upper and lower levels, it's by a long grade. Paul #3 ------------------ Have A Nice Day!
Paul #3 you have made a wise choice on using the Diamond Scale turntable and pit! I can highly reccomend their products. Neal Wolfe is very helpful if you have questions, and tell him I have reccomended his products. I have his 134 footer. My roundhouse is shown on one of the posts on the Trainboard, 33 stalls! Can't wait to see your pics! Paul, my round house is shown on the Free Lancers Forum in the Welcome to the Free Lancers Board thread. May have to set for 45 days ago. Just saw your roundhouse Watash, and all I can say is wow! That's one impressive structure! I'd love to see it done and full of engines. I just hope we can have soemthing that looks half as good as yours on our club layout! ------------------ Have A Nice Day!
