Hi All, I'm new to TrainBoard. This particular forum was what got me interested. We used to travel Cajon Pass @ once a month when I was a young child and I remember watching the trains pull those grades and wind through the corners just off the freeway. That is what got me hooked then and I'm still hooked now. I remember that the units were painted in the "Pinstripe" or "Bookend" scheme. I also seem to remember that they were all hood units, F45's I think. Can anyone out there tell me what motive power was used on Cajon at this time(71-75)? Also, are there any extensive decal sheets available for this paint scheme? Thanks!

Thanks Alan, That looks like a good start. Not much info on the Microscale site. Do you know if it is a "generic" set useful for multiple locomotive types? Years ago I was a scale A/C modeler and the sheets were pretty specific(ie. F-16C Block 50).
No takers on the motive power huh? Any ideas where I could possibly get some sort of listing of what would have been available? Thanks. -Jim
James, welcome to Trainboard. There are knowledgable folks here concerning Cajon. I used to live down there at that time, but wasn't a railfan then (can you imagine?). Kevin Stevens and a few others should be able to answer your questions about the motive power. For me, it's Steam or nothing. I am beginning to sign emails "The Old Curmudgeon of the North."
71-75: GP30, GP-35, SD24, SD40, SD45, SD45-2, F45, U36C, U23B & C, GP38(probably rarely), some RSD15s were still in service,
