H-6 model availability, I mean. I’ve been out of all things model railroading for a good five years, as well as moved three times and made a career change in the same time span, so I haven’t kept up with MRR developments. I’ve come back to it only since this past Thanksgiving. I am aware that the Western Maryland Scenic RR recently restored the C&O 2-6-6-2 1309, and are using it as its prime motive power for their scenic excursions. What I would like to know is, has there been any talk in the model railroading press as to whether its restoration is prompting enough modeler and manufacturer interest such that production of such 2-6-6-2’s is in the works, or under consideration? I know Bachmann made a couple of runs several years ago, but they have also been sold out for several years.
The Bman or a brass one by Key are all that I know of. The Bman has serious pulling issues, but they can be rectified by adding some weight and the addition of a traction tire in the correct spot. I used bullfrog Snot on mine. Keep searching the sale sites and eventually one will show up.
