    Hello Everyone--

Does anyone know if "Hiawatha" (orange/maroon) colored C-Liners ever pulled Hiawatha (orange/maroon) smoothside passenger cars?

    Thanks,
    Steve Williams

The Erie-builts were made for passenger trains, while the C-liners were for freight, so I don't think they pulled a passenger train, unless for emergency use, and sometimes the MILW ran F-M engines for testing locomotives since they were on Milwaukee rails. I've looked in all my MILW books, and no pic's of this type.

This thread is old, but thought I'd add an update........Milwaukee Road never ran their own C-liners in passenger service, however they did run a demo unit. The demo unit was not really similar to the Milwaukees units. To start with the passenger C-liners had 2400 HP (model CPA-24-5) and were 2-tone green. In April 1950, the first demo unit was used on the Chippewa Hiawatha, and when the second demo unit came on line, the 2 units (4801 & 4802) were used on train #23 on April 23 1950.

Those were the units that had a B-B front truck, and an A-1-A rear truck.

Thanks for the update. Personally, I put the Copper Country Limited behind the P1000 C-Liner on my line. It looks good with the heavyweight cars.
