Does anyone here know how to locate old C.B. & Q. personnel records? My grandfather was an engineer on the Q from about 1915 to 1932 when he lost his right arm in a mishap. He ran an engine/pile driver that not only pulled a work train but also set pilings for bridges. From about 1933 to 1950, he operated a turntable bridge at Prescott, WI over the St. Croix River. I have his railroad watch (a 1915 Hamilton), some buttons and some nifty old photos.

I would like to find more about his work --- when he was hired, what he did before he ran the engine/pile driver, when he retired, etc.

Please reply to bobnelson@comcast.net. Would greatly appreciate any help you can provide.

    Regards,

    Bob

Try the Burlington Route Historical Society in La Grange Illinois. B R H S @ burlingtonroute.com If they don't have what you are looking for they may know where to head for it. If you know where your Grandfather worked out of it may help them locate his records. Also try the local library in you grandfather's town or the BNSF (although they are pain to get a hold of.) Good Luck
