My latest creation is the Burchell Industries factory located on my MATrr. Previously this old building was the George Bailey's Produce Company but closed years ago when Mr. Bailey passed on. As part of the interchange agreement between Ed Burchell's Iron Ridge Railroad and my MATrr, Ed came to Maberly for an informal meeting. At that time, he saw this old vacant building and finding it at a bargain price, he purchased it and renamed it Burchell Industries. So far there have been a number of deliveries to and shipments from the factory but nobody seems to know what is being produced here. Time will tell The immediate neighbour is the Edwards Machine shop and across the tracks to the front are Templars Tombstones and Catt's Cannery. Across the tracks behind is the Anderson Coke Plant. This model is based on a picture of a Fine Scale Miniatures kit produced by George Sellios Ed Burchell is NARA member #25 It is constructed out of cardboard and a few toothpicks and is painted and weathered with crafters acrylic paint. WOW Robin. Every time you post a building, it still amazes me how you do it , and with cardbard and a few sticks. They look so much like real.
I heard there was a guy who peeked in a broken window and claims the company is secretly making fang sharpeners for Vampires! (He has been an inmate at the Phrankenstien Sanatorium for the Very Pale, up on the hill ever since then.) No one has ever questioned why all the box cars that leave the old factory are always painted black, and are only loaded at night. Its best to not ask!
I like those kind of things for visitors to get a chuckle when they spot them. I had Egor & Orville's Custom carved toilet hole covers, for the Discriminating Out House. Digger O'Dell's Automated Mortuary (With a truck backed up to the loading dock in back.) The trailer had: "Cheery Cat & Dog Food Express" on it with guys carrying boxes of canned goods into the trailer. Wrought N. Aieg Commercial Baby Eagle Ranch. U. Lickeun & I. Stickem Vulcanized Patch Company, for blown heavy duty girdles. Three Finger Freddie's Knife Sharpener Works. That was a layout I sold to move to Irving, Texas. Since then, I haven't had any visitors, so haven't made any more businesses like that. It was fun to hear the laughter though.
