Well now you have me wanting to break out my conversion and the test track. Awhile back I took a MP 4-4-0, and other than the issue of the cylinders I could see an 4-4-2 Atlantic peeking at me. Old test track was in the process of being torn up and track salvaged were possible so when it was finished it never was tested. Part of that conversion was adding a Bmann tender along with a new Belpaire boiler shell and a little more weight tucked in here and there. Now I have a new and better test track it will be interesting to see what the extra weight and the tender let this thing do.
I reran the wires to the tender and used the drawbar connection as my point to attach a trailing truck. In that I really got lucky because I just happened to have the right trailing truck in my steam parts box. At some point I need to get off my behind and order the correct cylinders from MP.
John, I definitely want to see your conversion when (if?) you eventually arise from resting upon your Gluteus Maximus...LOL
The 4-4-2 was done back in February of this year and I had a short thread on it then. Just never got to the testing stage because of the test track rebuild as previously stated and some temporary senility as I put it away and forgot about it. But here is a shot from back then with the other 4-4-0 that was the basis for it. The small piece of brass below the cab is my split drawbar post which in hindsight I would not do and just do a standard drawbar post with wires run into the tender. Less work. However the split drawbar does have it's advantage in a quick disconnect for service.
OK, I remember that thread...now. I'd forgotten that you had lengthened the body by adding the Belpaire firebox. I was trying to visualize how you would mount a trailing truck under the original MP body.
