He does seem interested. Hope so.

Interesting to see that rough sawn beam. Very rustic. Nice adaptation, with those displayed trains.

Yeah, all those beams are 113 years old. Would be a shame to hide them all [IMG]

It was an effort for him to keep his fingers off them! [IMG]

As we have family here at the moment, not a lot has been done on the layout, but I have installed decoders in some newly acquired locomotives. (Acquired since moving here). I think I now have just two more electric locomotives to chip. Some of the chips will be temporary as they will be replaced with sound ones.

Yes Paul, had some sound equipped locos on a previous British layout. Definitely adds another dimension and makes 'driving' much more realistic and pleasurable.

Will not have all locos fitted with sound (too expensive) but a selection of mainly diesels will be done.

Looks like things are moving along. I do have one question for you. I see a beam above the layout that you have a few piece of equipment sitting on. My question is how many times did you hit your head on that beam ????

    Never! [IMG]

The layout extends well in front of the beam - and it is at about eye-level, so not easily missed. Handy storage rack, though! 097.gif

I could just see you leaning in to work in the track in the rear of the layout and pulling out and meeting the beam.

More than my layout, must get a few more turnouts when I get back home. Got the bug now.

As can be seen, the beams go the whole length of the converted roof space, and are at just below eye-level. They add a lot of character to the conversion.

After a suggestion by Matt, I will be adding a cement loading plant to make use of a short siding, also it will enable the vertical beam to be hidden fairly effectively.
