I too was able to get through to Pete. Great guy. He said that my order was on hold as he was hoping to get me a little better price on my track order, because of the Euro price difference to the US dollar etc. (my whole order was Peco track). So I understand the wait. He even waived the extra flextrack shipping cost because of my wait. My order shipped, and should be here soon. So for anyone out there waiting.....Pete will take care of you, dont worry. He is just SWAMPED with orders for Christmas.
Pete called me tonight to iron out a billing glitch and to say my order is being shipped now. I placed my order 2 1/2 weeks ago. He told me getting Peco flextrack (half my order) is difficult right now. He waived his normal flextrack shipping surcharge because of the delay. On the phone, he's a really decent fellow. Normally, I'd be a little perturbed at the 2 1/2 week wait. But after reading all the positive testimonials about Pete's customer service, I'm happy to wait for service from such a respected vendor.
Well, hearing it from someone else just confirms that the peco track was screwing up our orders. lol Not that I didnt believe him. Just funny is all. I know I will be ordering from Pete again. Craig
Just wanted to say BLW has always shipped my orders quickly and have been happy with them. Nobody is perfect.... Internet Trains on the other hand has really good prices, but getting your order shipped in a timely manner (within.... oh a month... fourth time now - do I learn?) with them is impossible.
I cant believe it. I received my shipment already!!!! Man that was fast shipping. Pete is the man!!!!
YES HE IS!!! I am also glad that you have brought the thread full circle, as to letting us know the final conclusion and results, most times it ends with the thread starter never letting us know what transpired and some mail order establishment. getting a black eye for no reason.
Well, I always like to finish what I start. But this was never about BASHING Pete. It was just concern that I hadnt heard from him about my order, so I figured that I would ask others if they knew what and if there was a problem. As I had stated in the thread, I have always been happy with him.
This bothered me, too. We both wondered what was wrong with Pete, his business, or whatever. We were both happy customers. Yet many responses in the thread seemed to be loyally defending him from some kind of attack. Hunter asked the question I had wanted to ask: was anyone else having problems? Was there something going on? It was all very mysterious. No insult was ever meant.
That's the nature of an internet message board. Won't be the last time you see something along this line if you visit very many boards. My problem right now is not shipping times and email contact, but getting Christmas and home improvement paid for so I can start ordering, be it from BLW, Wig-Wag, or whoever.
I just recieved my order from him yesterday. I have been a customer for about 15 years. Always been happy. In fact he called me at home about said order to verify that I ordered multiple units of the same road number. I like that kind of service. Pete has always been tops on my list. He will hold an order until everything is in hand to ship together. I don't blame him for that. I would probably do the same. Have a great Holiday!
You could always hook up with someone you trust off this board to have the items shipped to, and then forward to you.
Though some of his special run paint schemes are interesting that's a lot of trouble to go to when there are so many other e-tailers that find no problem shipping overseas, even if in some cases they only send their foreign orders once a week. No offence intended to BLW, going on the comments here he gives great service.
I, too, like to finish what I started. The merchandise arrived 18 December, in good order and condition. BLW explained that they had run out of DL-109s and had to wait for a new shipment from WKW. they stated that they had to re-order at the regular price, but that they still honoured the sale price. That is good business practice. I suspect that they were too busy to e-Mail and tell me that they were out of DL-109s and did I want to order something else. I probably would have ordered something else; that would have saved their having to lose money on the DL-109. Still, sometimes it is easier just to do it the way that they did it. I will accept that. Others stated that there were problems, thus the difficulty of communication. I will accept that, as I finally got off a long overdue letter to my parents tonight. I have had some things going on of late that have demanded most of my available time. Some of you said that they would fill the order. They did. They also rendered an acceptable explanation for the delay in both the e-Mail that advised that my order was shipping and on the invoice.
I have had one transaction with Brooklyn Loco Works (BLW), and it was absolutely fantastic!!! First, I emailed them to check the quantities available for the items I wanted, and Pete (the owner) responded within a couple of hours. I then ordered the items via their webpage, and had them in hand 2 days later. The service was impecable. All of this was done around the end of Nov. this year. I will most definitely buy from them again. Plus their prices are some of the best you'll find. Their webpage is very easy to navigate and has tons of images to view what you are actually buying.
I've done biz with BLW for over 20 yrs... back when he sent out little catalogue booklets. It was a lot easier to reach Pete by phone back then. Once Pete got on-line and his business began to BOOM... the once accessible Pete became much less available and constant busy signals and unreturn emails became common. It was that lack of communication which led me to seek other on-line merchants. Until that time, BLW got 100% of my biz... now about 20% of my purchases are from him. The lack of accessiblity to the merchants is one of the biggest points of contention for me. If I need to add/delete or otherwise adjust an order its imperative that I can get to the dealer. Most on-line dealers are within a few percentage points apart on the price of model railroad stuff. The BLW website, with its easy to use shopping cart, was a big plus for me, but, other e-tailers have been just as efficient without the fancy (or expensive) websites.
