One of the first I am posting from my recent vacation trip to England and France.

This is a Silverlink commuter train. I rode one of these about three times during the trip. This one is in the New Street Station, Birmihgham.

Sure is a colorful, and CLEAN(!) train. Its front has almost human features ... looks like a very stern and purposeful man on a mission. :D

Silverlink is the commuter operator covering North West london, they run stopping and semi-fast services from Euston, a couple of branches from that main line, and two local services which skirt North London, from Gospel Oak to Barking, and Woolwich to Richmond.

They run a fleet of class 313 inner-suburban units, which can run on 25kv AC overhead catenary, or 750v DC third rail, the pictured unit is a class 321 unit, a 100mph capable outer suburban unit which runs on the 25kv Network. Silverlink also has a handful of class 150 diesel units which work the Barking to Gospel Oak line, and one of the other branches.

I have some pictures (somewhere!) of these units back in Network SouthEast days, before privatisation. I kinda like the Silverlink scheme though [IMG]
