I had about 10 over the years but down to 4 . They never had any instructions or manual.
I found them easy to work on but I took some apart and couple back together. The Hallmark GP's had same set up .
If you built want is on your avatar I sure you can figure this out , looks very good.

No manual exists for these, but you could look here: http://www.spookshow.net/loco/olalcors.html

I have a couple of these (RSD-5s actually, but same general mechanism). When properly adjusted and lubricated, these run as well as anything in N-scale, despite their age, and despite what the reviewer from Spookshow says. However, if your example is from the initial run, per link above, it could have the nylon worm gears, which usually shrink and crack with age.

The importers used to sell brass replacement gears, but that was back in the 1980s. However, NWSL appears to sell delrin replacement gears for the defective nylon gear(s) mentioned above, and being a dissimilar material, that would be better than the brass replacement gears anyway, for both wear and noise purposes. In looking at my stash of replacement gears (obtained back in the 1980s), I see that the compound 14/23 tooth worm gears used in my Oriental Limited RSD-5 are identical to those used in my Hallmark GP-9s. The NWSL part number for this gear appears to be 2235-6, per catalog at their website: http://www.nwsl.com/uploads/chap4b_web_09-15.pdf .

Thanks so much for the info.... I have always wanted a brass unit...the gears seem to be ok but the pick up wipers on the front truck are in the bag. I tested the motor and it runs fine. I plan on using your info to buy spare gears just in case.
    Again thanks.

I'm glad you found this useful :) Remember my comments are for Samhongsa (Korea) N-scale "micro-geared" brass mostly produced for Oriental Limited and Hallmark in the early 1980s.

If you're up to it, I would advise carefully disassembling each gear tower, recording part locations as you go, and clean all the old lubricant off (lubricant has a shelf life). Then check the worm gear (the large 23-tooth gear which engages with the worm; it was originally nylon, and mounted on the same sleeve with a 14-tooth brass idler gear). Sparingly re-lubricate the gears with grease and bearings with oil, and then gently run each truck/gear-tower back and forth by hand on a piece of track to test for smooth running. Since this unit is not new, you will need to use judgement as to the need for break-in. Also, there is a trick to properly positioning the wipers and truck side frames, but you can probably figure that out.
