Here he is, the new engineer, fresh out of the BNSF's KC training program, on the return leg of his first round trip. It's my friend Joe, taken in Bakersfield, CA 7-27-05.

Joe must also be a RR hobbyist? Hope he'll be having some time to enjoy the paycheck!

Yes he is. A big SP fan who does spend time working on his models when he's not out on the road.

We have a few threads on how to get a job with the railroad. Your friend could give us some insight on being new on the job. Congratulations on being hired!! [IMG]

He was a conductor before becoming an engineer. BNSF has been hiring in Bakersfield about twice a year. Watch thier website for info on it. They have been taking guys on the Conductor's board for engineers.

Joe has done a few switch jobs before going out on his first road trip. I was surprised to see him come in, so it was worth it.
