I just came across today a Boswer Mechnism upgrade for the Bachmann Northern. I have an old B. SF 4-8-4 that I'm superdetailing. However the old motor (pancake) was shot long time ago so I was going to build rebuild it as just a display model. But Now that I saw this kit I'm thinking of trying to get it to run as well. I've never built a Bowser Steam kit so I'm wondering how difficult they are to put together (especially the valve gear) and how close they are in appearance to the prototype SF 4-8-4 valve/drivetrain assembly. Also, if I did get it, I would want to replace the DC-71 motor with a can motor (and flywheel if possible). Does anyone have any suggestions for a relatively affordable can motor/flywheel? Thanx alot.

<font color="336633">Does this upgrade kit come with new wheels? My dad had one of these several years ago and the wheels kept falling off.

do you know if there is one for a Bachmann 0-6-0 as i have one of these (my first loco) and its not run for a LONG time, but its nicely detailed and weathered and id like to get it running one day.

It includes new drivers (valve gear and rods as well ), new undercarriage, weights, motor, and I think new tender wheels as well. I think its essentially the mechanism that Bowser uses in their 'generic' northern kit. (http://bowser-trains.com/). I don't know of what other repower kits they have. From what I understand they have been out of production for quite awhile and aren't listed anywhere on the Bowser site. I'll have to go look through some old MR's and find ads for the repowerkits.
