Hello all, Am in northern Virginia, coming back to this hobby after more than 25 years. Had dabbled in Z scale at that time but would want to do N now. Am just getting my feet, no actually toes wet, with a basic Kato Unitrack oval track set with a siding loop & few extra #4 & #6 turnouts & track. Am going the JMRI way, SPROG3, DCC. Have got just the basics of DecoderPro. Got myself a Digitrax DS64 stationary decoder & have set up shop with this single continuous track with a branch, a couple of locomotives & minimal rolling stock! I'm less concerned about the bells & whistles of scenery and industries and big sidings at this stage. Have got myself a 4' x 8' foam board. I am looking to start playing with a continuous layout having 2 tracks, a bridge, multiple turnouts with 2 trains running.... Nothing very complex but not too simple either. Have discovered SCARM (freeware) & XtrackCAD. Hoping to find some Xtrack or SCARM files to get started. Thanks. EsK
Welcome to TrainBoard EsK! You will find both a great N Scale and DCC community here and hopefully lots of answers. I'm not reall at the DCC stage yet but the rest sounds a lot like the same thing as my JPT Subdivision layout I am working on as well.
Welcome aboard, EsK! Feel free to post photos of layout progress, hosted free thru our counterpart RailImages.
Thanks! A bit premature to post photos of a very basic track layout, after looking at all those layouts! A bit intimidating as well...
