This afternoon BNSF ran a special train to Longview Wn. The reason for the train is unknown to me. The train was in front of Weyerhaeuser's main gate. The train had a new GE ES-4400 for power a power car a coach, sleeper, diner, coach and dome lounge. The locomotive looked like the paint was still wet.
Hmmm. I wonder what was happening? Wn/WN, was the old abbreviation for Washington. Also used by people from Wisconsin. Which caused confusion for USPS. So, Wisconsin became WI. Washington was changed to WA. In this case, he's referring to Longview, Washington. Boxcab E50
I can't think of anything recently noted, about Weyerhaeuser, and a special occasion. I wonder if there'd be mention, in a local newspaper? Boxcab E50
Thanks. I figured that was the case, but I thought it could have been some Canadian thing or something else. Learn something new every day I guess!
This train wandered into Great Falls, MT this weekend,a nd I have shots of all the cars. Here's a quickie: This shot was so ard to expose correctly, since the stainless was clean, and the sun was so strong! I tried to post-process it a bit better, but still seems off.
Looks like it was touring Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Montana. Probably high rollers, government officials, and company officers.............
Here's the train, front to rear! You've seen the sole power for this one.. Trinchera Pass is first: Power Car Snoqualmie Pass is next: Next in line is Cajon Pass: Raton Pass is tha last car of this section:
Next in line is (diner?) Lake Superior: Then comes Mountain View: The only way to enjoy Big Sky Country is thru the magnificent views from Glacier View: The lead unit had paint so fresh, if I stuck my finger init, it would have transferred...
It always strikes me as being odd, when there's mention of Snoqualmie Pass... Someone needs to paste a Milw logo on the name board... Boxcab E50
Tempting, isn't it? I found that interesting as well. Snoqualmie hasn't seen a train since 1980 or so. Much less a BNSF train.
Well, BN did buy the Pass, after Milw shut down. However, they never ran a revenue train over it. Just a couple of Hi-rail trips. Then, let it all completely fall apart. Boxcab E50
That train came through Colorado Springs a week ago last Monday. It was pulled by a SD40-2 that looked like it needed a trip to the paint shop. It also had three high level cars in the consist.
Rumour has it The rumour going around as to the reason the BNSF ran the special to Longview is that Weyerhaeuser is not pleased with the service that BNSF is providing to the mill. The Weyco mill ships out lots of cars and the mill is on BNSF track. So Weyco is a big shipper and the head honcho of BNSF was there to check things out for himself.
